It has been years since I wrote, I have a new home in a new area, new soil and new climate. Nature keeps teaching me lessons and I keep listening.
As I said I am in a new area, I moved to the beach, the soil here is SANDY. I have been planting some perinneals but I also love to discover the natural plants that are already here. Not controlling everything, but watching and waiting to see what treasures emerge from the natural landscape, then I can move them and propagate them to where I would like them or weed around them, after I have distinguished between the weeds and the treasures.
In this process one of the treasures I have found is this plant that has bright pink flowers that is low growing. It has been hidden underneath the the more voracious weeds that have staked their claim all over the yard. they grow tall and hog the sun light. At the beginning of the growing season there were so many spouts it was over whelming to try to eliminate them. As the season has progressed and they have grown it is much easier to remove them now with their long lanky stems. The sandy soil does have its benefits when it comes to weeding! What I have found is these plants with the pink flowers have been hidding under the canopy of the taller weeds and its only as I removed the ones I didn't want that I could see the real treasures underneath. They are delicate, so I have to show some care in removing the taller unwanted weeds, so I don't damage the ones I want to keep and allow them to grow.
Some things in life take time to reveal what they are. So often we want to hurry things along and control the landscape. When we do this we can loose out on discovering beautiful surprises that are there for us if we only take the time to allow them to grow. In time we will be able to see what is worth holding onto and what we need to remove from our lives. The trick is to not rush to judgement but to allow the time for what is valuable to develope and what is not of value to reveal itself as well. Only time and patience can give that wisdom and insight to us.
